BLOUSE AND SKIRT – VINTAGE
SHOES AND TIGHTS – TOPSHOP
BAG – JIGSAW
Before anybody asks, yes, it was too cold to go out dressed like this! I was wearing a coat, I just didn’t bother to photograph it because it’s old, slightly too big for me and probably covered in cat hair. The coat isn’t important. What I really wanted to share with you was my new (to me) velvet skirt and my new (actually new!) Jigsaw bag, which came to me courtesy of John Lewis.
After seeing that I posted their advert on my blog, John Lewis were kind enough to allow me to choose a bag from their extensive online range. I am so excited to finally have a ‘proper bag’. One that doesn’t come with a slightly dodgy smell and unusual looking stain, all courtesy of the previous owner. Don’t get me wrong, I will always love and advocate vintage, but sometimes it’s just nice to have something new, you know? Of course, now it would only be polite of me to return the favour and suggest that you take a moment to browse their handbag department. I was fairly taken by this Whistles tote and this Ochre Blue bucket bag, but I think I made the right choice with my equestrian-inspired Jigsaw saddle bag. Next on my wish list: the Mulberry Alexa. If only!

Photos by Ian (I apologise for the graininess, it’s getting dark over here!).

I know that feeling of wanting something new sometimes. I was really lucky two weeks back, because my local charity shop had a whole rail of brand new clothes from one of my favourite stores. I don’t know why or how, but I was very happy.

I get what you mean with getting something new! I don’t get new new clothes that often, sometimes you just can’t fill those gaps in your wardrobe with suspicious op-shop and second hand wares. Then again, sometimes you find things as great as your velvet skirt!

This outfit is just gorgeous. I love the pattern on your skirt so much and your silver shoes are wonderful. Such a great new bag too. I agree that it’s nice to have some new things sometimes – especially mixed among all our vintage/thrifted items.

That’s a new one, thank you! It’s a bit of a mess here actually, I was in a rush to go take pictures before it got dark!
